Check for updates

Only a copy opened from your disk checks. When on, the only network call is one request to api.github.com to read the latest release. Nothing else leaves this machine.

How to update a downloaded copy

Group/task overrides

Two names, and they answer different questions. Your name is who, and it travels with anything you send someone. This device is which machine, it never leaves this browser, and it is what tells your phone from your laptop when they disagree about the board.

Your name On settings files you export, and named as the sender of signed board exports. This device Required for sync. Names this browser in history entries, in sync commits, and in the dialog that asks which board to keep.

Help

Basics. Enter adds a task, Tab and Shift+Tab indent or outdent (a whole multi-selection at once), arrows browse, Alt+arrows move an item anywhere: through subtrees and across groups. Ctrl+Up/Down collapses or expands, Ctrl+Enter marks the selected task done, Ctrl+Alt+F opens focus mode (works on groups too).

Board shortcuts. Alt+A adds a group. Ctrl+Shift+Down expands everything; Ctrl+Shift+Up collapses everything. ArrowLeft climbs to the sidebar, ArrowUp from the top task reaches search. Alt+S shows or hides the sidebar. In the sidebar, arrows browse, ArrowRight opens a section and ArrowLeft closes it. Full list: keyboard shortcuts.

Clipboard. Ctrl+C copies selected tasks as clean Markdown. Pasting inside the board places a linked copy by default; change this in Settings. Ctrl+X then paste moves tasks. Pasting Markdown from outside creates new tasks.

Linked copies. A linked copy is one task shown in two places: edit or complete either one and both update. A shortcut is a small pointer that jumps to the original instead. Ctrl+Shift+V pastes a real, unlinked copy no matter what the paste setting says.

Images. The Image keep resolution setting only applies to images you paste from that moment on; nothing already on the board is ever resized. Pastes are compressed to the chosen size and the pasted original is discarded, unless the setting is Original, which stores the file untouched.

Your data. Everything stays in this browser. Use Export JSON for a lossless backup and Import JSON to load it elsewhere.

Reminders. Alerts and browser notifications only fire while this page is open.
